“Sometimes we have to hurt the one we love in order to keep them…Sometimes we have to hurt them so they don’t hurt themselves much worse.”
This book literally left me speechless and I have to give kudos to the author because she totally sideswiped me with this one. Knowing that Gabe was the hero in this book I eagerly anticipated how this character could be redeemable, how could K Webster make me like this man? This was a man that was vile, twisted, depraved, disgusting, had no scruples and was evil personified. What could K Webster possibly bring to the table that would make me read a whole book about him? Well, K Webster brought her A Game. I loved book one in this series, book 2 I liked but this one…OMG this one has left me reeling for days and it is for this reason that I had to give it 5 stars. I have thought about this book non-stop, I have discussed it non-stop, gah, I need Gabe out of my head.
“This isn’t over, baby,” he assured me. “It’s only just begun.”
What K Webster delivered was a book that didn’t make me like Gabe but at least made me understand him a little. His back story was enlightening and finally gives up the puzzle pieces that make up the complete picture of this sick and twisted evil man. We knew from book two that he had “settled” down somewhat, but for Gabe this was a means to an end, a stop gap. He was biding his time and it is this that is most frightening, what happens when Gabe Sharpe finally makes his move?
“I’m yours. I became yours the moment I heard the sickening crunch of that baseball bat.”
I really cannot say much about the story itself as everything is a spoiler, all I can say is that at times I cringed, I felt extremely uncomfortable, I felt sick. I was shocked so many times, not so much by Gabe’s behaviour but by the heroine in this story, the twists with regards to this character were totally unpredictable, unforeseeable and totally and utterly unfathomable. With eyes wide open I had to admit that Gabe may have finally met his match. Hades and Persephone had found each other, the King and Queen of the underworld and what havoc they wreaked.
“I’m not just fragile. I was broken since the day I was born. You can’t destroy what’s already smashed and fragmented. All I’ve been searching for, my entire life, was someone to hold all the pieces together. Even if they had to bleed a little in the process. I thought you were that person, Gabe.”
This book is definitely not for the faint of heart, K Webster delivers this story with no filters whatsoever, yes, it is dark, yes, it is brutal, but despite how uncomfortable I was I couldn’t put the darn book down. I was addicted to this sick, twisted and depraved story. It was a car crash, but it was their crash and they were the only survivors.
“You just made yourself a deal with the devil.”
You can tell how bad this book gets when Gabe is deemed the sensible one, the one in control, a man of reason. His heroine in this book is on another level. When their relationship first begins I was mortified, I was like, I cannot read this, this is just wrong on so many levels but as their relationship pans out over the pages I found myself actually seeing that these two were so right together…how the hell did K Webster do that?? This was a relationship that was incomprehensible, yet their actions, the time they spend together, they actually work and Gabe has more than his hands full.
“After everything I’ve told you about me. About what I’ve done, who I’ve killed, people I’ve taken and tortured. You still poke the bear. What happens when I hurt you? Will you wake up one day and realize you’ve had enough?”
I still can’t get over it, I’m typing this with so many thoughts whirring around my brain that I am just dumbstruck. Trying to find the words to convey just how great this book this was and trying to justify why I felt that way makes me look at myself and say what the hell? Why did you love it, you should have hated it, I should slap myself really, but this is kudos to the author, she brought her characters to the table and she owned them. She created a story of pure evil and made me want these characters to stay together. They deserved each other, they understood each other. Could the heroine have had a different life…maybe, but those base urges would venture to the surface eventually and with no one to control her, or who could control her the world was a safer place with her and Gabe together.
“I’ll follow you anywhere. Even into the darkness. Especially, into the darkness.”
K Webster, you outdid yourself with this one. I am just dumbstruck.

This Isn't Over Baby War Peace Book 3 edition by K Webster Vanessa Bridges Romance eBooks Reviews
Oh, my, gosh. This is by far the most disturbing K. Webster book I have read to date. Maybe even out of all the books I've read this year. Definitely in the top ten most disturbing. Heed the warning, this is not a sweet happily ever after fairy tale. Oh no. It's dark and demented and morbid. It's a train wreck that you just can't look away from.
** You definitely need to read books one (This Is War, Baby) and two (This Is Love, Baby) before reading any further. **
You know when the author makes you feel something for the villain of the story, makes you feel sorry for them and start to understand them when they don't deserve it at all? Even when they're a complete psychotic murdering lunatic.... THAT is good writing. THAT is what we have here, with Gabe. We met him and loved to hate him in the previous books. This Isn't Over, Baby dives straight into what makes him tick the way he does, why he has the issues he has. It's brutal and heartbreaking.
Then there's Hannah (Bailee's daughter). And if she isn't Gabe's match made in heaven I don't know what is. She is even more psychotic than he is. Yes that's possible. She seriously needs to be locked up and the key thrown far far away. She kills and she likes it. She craves attention and sex like one breathes air to live.
"His words should disturb me. But you can’t disturb the disturbed."
The two of them become so infatuated with each other in a really sick and disturbing, unhealthy way. It's a father/daughter type relationship with a twist. You think you know what's what, who's who and K throws a curve ball at ya.
“Besides…” His lips quirk up into a wolfish grin. “Even a dream couldn’t keep me away from you. Some nightmares simply won’t die. Some nightmares will haunt you until your last breath.”
Words can't describe some of the things these two do together. I was a little shocked at certain times and that's hard to do in a book for me. K. Webster, you freak! But I loved it so much, it's dark and way way out there. If you can go into it with an open mind and like stepping out of your comfort zone - here you go!
My rating 5/5 stars
This was totally whacked. I've read some crazy stuff before but I think this tops most of them. I do applaud authors who take a risk and making a character that was so despicable in the previous two books and making him the main character in his own was certainly that.
Learning about what made Gabriel Sharpe into the depraved man he was definitely helped in garnering some sympathy from me. I could even go as far as saying I ended up liking him by the end. What I didnt like was who his woman ended up being. That ruined it for me on so many levels - and that ending - left me confused. To talk to much about her would be giving a huge spoiler.
Baylee and War fought so hard for their happiness and I was happy where they were at the end of the 2nd book. This book jumps 16 years ahead and complete insanity has ensued and pissed me off to be honest.
Most of what didnt work for me in this book is a personal preference so please dont let my opinion sway whether you read it.
